Torstar Corporation agreed on Friday, June 27, to purchase 590,631 Class A voting shares in Toronto's Multimedia Nova for $236,253. Multimedia Nova is the multicultural publisher of weekly publications Correo Canadiense and Tandem, in addition to the Town Crier chain of newspapers.

| Le Journal strike ends, reporters to receive new multimedia duties |

| Canwest reports increased revenue as earnings drop |
|
Despite reporting a net loss of 16 cents per share in its third quarter ending May 31, or $28-million, Canwest Global Communications Corp. enjoyed increased revenue with its latest financial results.
On Friday, July 11, Canwest reported $855 million in revenues, up $117 million from last year, and EBITDA of $177 million, which was an increase of $55 million from last year.
