BREAKING NEWS: Ontario newspapers to be exempt from HST

The Ontario government announced this morning that newspaper subscriptions and single copy sales will be exempt from the proposed HST (Harmonized Sales Tax).

The government decision follows months of lobbying by the Canadian Newspaper Association and the Canadian Community Newspapers Association on behalf of the industry to have newspaper sales exempt from the tax.
