CIDA winners announced

The Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2006 Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Awards for Excellence in Writing on International Cooperation.
Class A - Circulation up to 9,999: 1. Amanda Stephenson, "A Bountiful Harvest" - Moosomin (SK) World-Spectator 2. Trudy Kelly Forsythe, "Bettle Helps Hampton, Swazi Town Form Bond" - Sussex (NB) Kings County Record 3. Helen Solmes, "Confirmed: Sponsorships, Donations Making a Difference" - Esterhazy (SK) Miner-Journal Class B - Circulation 10,000 and over: 1. Rick Collins, "Sri Lanka Rebuilding" - Abbotsford (BC) Times 2. Danielle Milley, "Fighting AIDS in Africa" - Ajax/Pickering (ON) News Advertiser 3. Jillian Follert, "Across the Miles to Mozambique" - Oshawa (ON) This Week Winners in the two classes were announced at the CIDA Awards Reception on May 27 in Quebec City, held in conjunction with the association's 87th national convention. The Hon. Josée Verner, Minister of International Cooperation, attended the event and spoke about Canada's role in assisting developing nations. The two winners will be invited to travel with a CIDA representative to a developing nation to see first hand how Canadians are contributing to international cooperation projects. The CIDA Awards for Excellence in Writing on International Cooperation celebrate the efforts of community newspaper journalists to bring stories of local interest about Canadians working abroad to their readers.
