CIDA Awards finalists announced for 2006

The Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA) is pleased to announce the finalists of the 2006 Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Awards for Excellence in Writing on International Cooperation. Results are in alphabetical order by last name.
Class A - Circulation up to 9999:
Trudy Kelly Forsythe, "Bettle Helps Hampton, Swazi Town Form Bond" Sussex (NB) Kings County Record Helen Solmes, "Confirmed: Sponsorships, Donations Making a Difference" Esterhazy (SK) Miner-Journal Amanda Stephenson, "A Bountiful Harvest" Moosomin (SK) World-Spectator Class B - Circulation 10,000 and over: Rick Collins, "Sri Lanka Rebuilding" Abbotsford (BC) Times
Jillion Follert, "Across the Miles to Mozambique" Oshawa (ON) This Week Danielle Milley, "Fighting AIDS in Africa" Ajax/Pickering (ON) News Advertiser Winners in the two classes will be announced at the CIDA Awards Reception on May 27 in Quebec City, held in conjuction with the convention. All finalists are given complementary full convention registrations, airfare and accommodations so they can be in attendance for the announcement. The two winners will be invited to travel with a CIDA representative on a trip to a developing nation to see first hand how Canadians are contributing to international cooperation projects. The CIDA Awards for Excellence in Writing on International Cooperation celebrate the efforts of community newspaper journalists to bring stories of local interest about Canadians working abroad to their readers.
