On April 1, 2010, the Department of Canadian Heritage will officially launch the Canada Periodical Fund, a funding program to replace the Publications Assistance Program (PAP) and Canada Magazine Fund.

CNA and CCNA member newspapers are invited to run a “Kid Scoop page” about the earthquake in Haiti – free of charge. The page contains earthquake news, information on what makes an earthquake and how kids can help and part of a map showing the location of Haiti. A series of worksheets for teachers and parents is also available. 

The Canadian Newspaper Association and Canadian Community Newspaper Association are thrilled to launch ads designed to highlight, to our readers and advertisers, that choosing to read a printed newspaper is environmentally friendly.

  The final submission deadline for the CCNA’s Better Newspapers Competition is just around the corner. Thank you to all who submitted their entries early. The winner of the early-bird draw for a voucher worth up to $1,500 towards the cost of attending the 2010 national conference in Toronto will be announced shortly.
